ELSA
Subject leader: Mrs Rumsey
In my role as an Emotional Learning Support Assistant (ELSA) I work with children both in groups and on an individual basis. Sessions are designed around each child and the goal is to help children to reach their full potential in school, at home and within the wider community. Together we work on strategies to help each child feel happy, settled and valued whilst building resilience.
In line with the nurturing ethos of the school, ELSA sessions aim to provide a safe and relaxed environment for children to work through any barriers they may have to becoming encaged and active learners. Helping them to develop their emotional literacy and become more confident.
Each session takes place once a week in The Lounge to provide consistency and help everyone feel relaxed and ‘at home’.
