Summer Term 2026
Welcome to Foundation Stage 2!
Welcome back to all of our lovely children and families! We are looking forward to our last, fun filled term together. Can you believe the year is almost finished?! We certainly can't! There is a lot to pack in to this last term, so please do make sure you ask the class team if you have any questions about what is going on.
Please see the Summer Term booklet below for information about our learning this term and see our curriculum page for more details of our learning across FS2.
Tapestry - Some of our learning throughout the week is shared on Tapestry, if you have any issues with your account, please let Mrs Porter know and we will try our best to sort it! We also encourage grown ups at home to share moments important to you and your child on to Tapestry as well so that we can celebrate everyone's journey together as a class.
PE - is on a Wednesday afternoon - please bring in your PE to get changed into after lunch.
Warm weather - with the weather getting warmer and the UV levels high, please make sure your child brings in a small sun-cream which can be left in school. We will re-apply sun-cream before lunch time play and on particularly warm days, during the afternoon as well. Please remember to also bring a water bottle every day and a sun hat if your child will wear one.

New Starters 26-27
First of all, we need to say a big, big WELCOME to all our new children starting FS2 in September 2026!
Welcome to The Arches, we are so lucky to have you join us!
In this section, we want to share some helpful information to help you get started in September. Please see the New Starter Information Booklet which will be shared after the home visits for further information as well.
Transition
Welcome meeting: Wednesday 17th June 1:15pm. This is a chance for grown ups and children to come into school, meet your new learning and school team, try the school lunch food and visit the classroom
Home Visits: in early June, two members of your child's new class team will be doing home visits to meet your child in a place they feel safe and secure. These visits should last 10-20 minutes and it is a great chance to ask us any questions, nothing is too small! You should receive a phone call from Mrs Porter shortly to arrange these with you.
September
Usually, our school day runs from 8:40am – 3:10pm. But, over the first 2 days , we will have a graduated start to ensure we can provide you and your child with the best start possible.
The new school year starts on Thursday 3th September.
Thursday 3rd September - Intro morning & parents meeting 9-11am. Grown-ups and children are invited to share a morning in your new classroom. Grown-ups are asked to please stay for this time to help settle your child into their class and so that the class team can share more information about our learning. It is also an opportunity to get to know your class team a little better!
Friday 4th September – all children are to arrive at the start of the day and stay until 1:10pm when they can be picked up from the office. Grown ups are welcome to stay until 9:30am, following our Stay and Settle morning routine. We will spend lots of time helping them get to know each other and introducing the lunch hall, which can be quite scary. The chidlren will be brought to the office to be collected by grown ups at 1:10pm.
Monday 7th September - all FS2 children start full time, arriving at 8:40am – leaving at 3:10pm. We will be starting a stay-and-settle morning policy where grown ups are welcome to stay until 9:30am to support your child settling into their play. We would encourage all grown-ups to bring children into the classroom at the start of the day (even if you can’t stay for long!), then leave through the main office. This will be our morning routine until the October half term.
Please do contact Mrs Porter via email if you have any questions or worries: cporter@thearches.cheshire.sch.uk
