Attendance

Here at The Arches, we strive to maintain the highest possible standards of attendance and punctuality. We value the strong partnership we share with our families, as it helps us ensure that our children attend school consistently and arrive on time.

If you have any questions, issues or concerns regarding attendance and punctuality, please contact Miss Tushingham or Mrs Popplestone on 01244 667660.

If your child's attendance drops below 96% or they receive frequent late marks, parents/carers will be sent a letter in the post outlining this. Should attendance fall below 90%, or if punctuality continues to be a concern , you may be invited to an attendance panel meeting with Mrs Popplestone and Miss Tushingham to discuss this further and access support where required.

Celebrating positive attendance and punctuality

Each week in assembly, we celebrate excellent attendance and punctuality across the whole school. The year group with the highest overall attendance of the week is rewarded with 15 minutes of extra playtime. The class with the best punctuality, measured by the fewest late marks, will earn priority access to the football pitch during break or lunchtime.

School times

Our school gates open at 8:40am and close promptly at 8:50am. Any children arriving after this time must be signed in at the main office with Miss Tushingham, where a late mark will be recorded on the register. If your child arrives at school after the registers have closed (9:20am), your child will receive a U code on the register. This is an unauthorised absence for that morning session.

What we offer

If you are struggling to get your child/ren to school on time due to other commitments, then we can offer your child a space in our popular Breakfast Club for £3.50 per child, per day. This begins at 7:45am. We also offer After school provision, where children can stay in school until 6pm for £5 per hour. Please call the school office for more information.

Illness

If your child is unwell, please contact the school office before 9am by calling 01244 667660. Please state your child's name, class and reason for absence. School will contact parents during their child's first day of absence if no reason has been provided. The school may ask about the child's symptoms to record their absence accurately on the register. If your child is absent for multiple days and we are unable to contact you, a welfare visit may be carried out.

Term time absence

Please collect a form from the school office for all term time absences.
