A very warm welcome to Year 3 class page!

Welcome back to school! We are so excited to begin our Year 3 journey together. This year will be full of fun, learning, and growth. We can’t wait to work with our wonderful families to make this a fantastic year. 

As the author William Butler Yeats once said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Let’s spark that fire together and make Year 3 unforgettable!

Important dates

Tuesday 20th January 2026 - Rewind event at Blacon High 9am

Wednesday 4th February 2026 - Parents course in baby and child first aid with SJA at 8:40am

Wednesday 4th March 2026 - Parents evening

Thursday 5th March 2026 - World book day (Pupils can dress up as a character of their choice)

Wednesday 11th March 2026 - Parents evening

Friday 20th March 2026 - Red nose day (Own clothes day)

Home Learning

Homework will be sent out on a Thursday and is expected to be returned by Tuesday. Homework is intended to extend the learning outside of school and to be enjoyed.

Reading is a lifelong skill; we have created a calming library area within the classroom where children are encouraged to read and share a book. Please continue this at home, encourage your child to read for pleasure and enjoy a ‘good book’. Reading daily, for a short time, is a great habit to get into.

PE

PE days are Monday (inside) and Friday (outside, weather permitting). Please make sure your child has their kit with them on those days.
