New Starters 25-26

First of all, we need to say a big, big WELCOME to all our new children starting FS2 in September 2025!

Welcome to The Arches, we are so lucky to have you join us!

On this page, we want to share some helpful information to help you get started in September. Please see the New Starter Information Booklet for further information as well.

Transition

Welcome meeting: Tuesday 3rd June - 1pm. This is a chance for grown ups and children to come into school, meet your new learning and school team, try the school lunch food and visit the classroom

Home Visits: during May, Mrs Porter and Mrs Newell will be doing home visits to meet your child in a place they feel safe and secure. These visits should last 10-15 minutes and it is a great chance to ask us any questions, nothing is too small!

September

Usually, our school day runs from 8:40am – 3:10pm. But, over the first 3 days will have a graduated start to ensure we can provide you and your child with the best start possible.

The new school year starts on Wednesday 3th September.

Wednesday 3rd September - Intro morning & parents meeting 9-11am. Grown-ups and children are invited to share a morning in your new classroom. Grown-ups are asked to please stay for this time to help settle your child into their class and so that Mrs Porter can share more information about our learning. It is also an opportunity to get to know your class team a little better!

Thursday 4th & Friday 5th September – all children are to arrive at the start of the day and stay until 1:10pm when they can be picked up from the classroom. Grown ups are welcome to stay until 9:30am, following our Stay and Settle morning routine. We will spend lots of time helping them get to know each other and introducing the lunch hall, which can be quite scary. The gate will be opened at 1:10pm for the children to be collected by grown ups.

Monday 8th September - all FS2 children start full time, arriving at 8:40am – leaving at 3:10pm. We will be starting a stay-and-settle morning policy where parents are welcome to stay until 9:30am to support your child settling into their play. We would encourage all grown-ups to bring children into the classroom at the start of the day (even if you can’t stay for long!), then leave through the main office. This will be our morning routine until the October half term.

Please do contact Mrs Porter via email if you have any questions or worries: cporter@thearches.cheshire.sch.uk
